Title: All Things WTAPS./355thentry「Now」

A launch event for the WTAPS archive book that was released last November, WTAPS® 01, will take place at INVINCIBLE in Taiwan this weekend, so I was going through material from when we had the launch at BOOKMARC last year; not much time has gone by since then, but it seemed like something that took place a while back.

At around the same time, i-D had an interview article with Nishiyama based around the archive book, and I was blown away once again by how deep the activities have been for the last 20 plus years.

The present is here by connecting the past.  Live in the present and face tomorrow.  I would like to cherish the past, do what I can do the fullest now, and broaden my outlook of the future.  Not a feeling from emotion; it is just how I feel.

Title: All Things WTAPS./354th entry「An interest that urges action」

When you get that feeling of "I want to wear that," you start analyzing various factors at once and finally decide whether or not to buy; I think this is something everyone does and something anyone can relate to, the enjoyable experience where you get an uplifting feeling of anticipation from the actual process of letting your imagination run, and contemplating over this and that.

At home, at work, or at some store, the speed you turn the pages or the time you focus on a photograph may differ, but I would like it to be something that you want to hold in your hands to have a look. It would be great if the relationship that starts from there is something positive that continues for a long time. I think of such things when the completion of the catalog is right around the corner.

Title: All Things WTAPS./353rd entry「Full circle before you know it」

I was just talking with people I met during the New Year's holiday how one year goes by quickly, and I have been feeling this way even more so lately.
You give your thanks for the past year, then in a few days you give your New Year's greetings. It is something normal, but these few days that you spend preparing for the New Year may only be a short time, but I feel it is a time that you spend gently.
That is why when I see the usual crew at the first sale of the year, I naturally get braced up. It may be a feeling of tension that is unique to the beginning of a new year.
A little different from the grand dream I had envisioned of my future self when I was a child of how "I would like to be able to step into the new year being better than myself 1 year ago," I thought during the start of 2018 how your expectations towards the new days ahead really do not change much no matter how old you get.

Title: All Things WTAPS./352nd entry 「A nurturing environment

I had an opportunity the other day to meet many skateboarders, and I got an impression that skateboarders are skateboarders even from when they are a child.
Like their actions, what they say, how they act, or how everything about them is naturally urban.
I convinced myself that it is like that, from feeling a unique independent atmosphere that only skateboarders have from the young children.
The adults there were children, and the children were acting a little older; how they were enjoying things were exactly the same. Each one is fairly individualistic, but somehow a sense of unity was born that is unique to those sharing the same attitude.
I truly feel they are a wonderful and attractive group of people.

Title: All Things WTAPS./351st entry「Sort of happy, sort of lonely」

The first ever WTAPS brand book, WTAPS® 01, has been completed, and an exhibition took place the other at BOOKMARC in Harajuku. The oldest JUNGLE LS for WTAPS was exhibited in a frame, and the latest WTAPS JUNGLE LS was created by the Director as a pattern, and exhibited alongside for comparison.
There was an event celebrating the creation of the book on the first day of the exhibition, with a talk show featuring the fashion journalist Tetsuya Suzuki, alongside the photographer Chikashi Suzuki for guest speakers.
After this, there was a time for book signing for those that purchased the book, and it felt like I was the only one scurrying around, but I also felt relieved after everything ended successfully.
Usually I do not feel relieved, or glad, when a certain process has been done, usually I am more like "ok, next," and do not get sentimental when something is completed; so at first I really did not understand it, but this time I really reflected back on many things and felt a sense of excitement.
After all, this book took 5 years to complete, so maybe this was part of why my feelings were deeply imbedded somewhere that I did not realize it.
