Title: All things WTAPS./179th entry「Thermals」

Every year, thermals are a must for winter.
It means "related to heat, temperature, warmth, etc."
Like its meaning, it was originally underwear for the outdoors
as an item to increase heat retention.
So the question is why are thermals warm and how do they retain heat.
First, if you look at the material, you see bumps compared to
the material used for T shirts, sweats, parkas, etc. Also each one has its purpose.
Starting, the raised portion's purpose is to increase heat retention by having
the material stay in touch with the skin. Just like how slim fitting clothing feels
warmer than loose, baggy clothing.
Next, the indented portion's purpose is the opposite and does not touch the skin.
But instead it creates air. The air temperature increases from body heat not
escaping due to the raised portions touching the skin so that is how it increases
heat retention.
For example sweaters have bumps to create air from the yarn
but the weave is loose and air escapes easily so once you step out of the room
you suddenly feel cold. That is why if you wear a nylon jacket, etc. that is dense,
the heat retention increases dramatically.
To conclude, by making air where it does not touch the skin, and by touching
the skin and not allowing the air to escape, is how it increases heat retention.
This season, for such thermals, WTAPS uses Breath Thermo® from the
Japanese sports equipment manufacturer Mizuno, and this has fibers
which create heat from the moisture released from the body
and increase heat retention to prepare for the middle of winter.

FYI, according to our Director,
when you talk about thermals, he says it is Elliott from E.T.; the toys he had were
Hammerhead, Greedo, Lando, Snaggletooth, and what else was there?

That is about it.

Title: All things WTAPS./172nd entry「 LIFIST」

EX27 LIFIST will launch this weekend.
It is still hot outside, but the season is Autumn/Winter.
The atelier is the complete opposite right now preparing for the
Spring/Summer exhibition.
A while back, I felt like we were planning thinner things during when it was hot
and thicker things when it was during the colder times
but lately I feel it has been changing little by little when the seasons change
and the length of the seasons.
That is why when choosing material, attachments, and details
things like this are taken into consideration as we proceed on.

Title: All things WTAPS./157th entry「Bags」

For the daily commute I almost always
use a backpack.
It is something so normal so I never really noticed it
but the more I think about it even on days off when I go out
I use a backpack.
The main reason is how it fits close to the back and both arms
can open so that you really do not feel like you are carrying it.

Also I use a tote bag sometimes
because of the wide opening it is easy to put things in and take out
and the one I use a lot is a larger size made of tough canvas;
I feel it is handy because it is built tough and holding many things.

When going out by myself I choose accordingly
but I bring both when going out with family or with many people.

Title: All things WTAPS./147th entry「Feel」

During meetings within the company, or even with others,
words like "sort of like that" or "roughly"
words which seem vague at first get used quite often
with proper trust built between you and the other person
it is used when confidence in the confirmation of feel corresponds
so compared to dealings that are done in a manner where you
have to be fully insured, something way better is created.
Of course when the timing comes to
have detailed conversations, they take place and proceed on
but in the terms of each other having to consider being fully insured
this is something I never do.
That is because I know as a result something good will not be made
because it is not fully insured.
Lately I have really started to feel that
by focusing on being able to make things
communicating by feel
I would like to keep my radar up without getting insured.

Title: All things WTAPS./142nd entry「Winter preparation」

In September the Japan Meteorological Agency announced this winter
(Dec. through Feb.) will be warmer and 2 months later they re-released
something opposite saying winter will be a cold one.
A few days ago the term Christmas cold wave was used
even in the news and I feel this is a very cold winter.
Times like this, to support the warm jacket
hats with ear warmers (AVIATOR) or
fleece lined gloves (GLOBE/BLACK) get chosen.

A couple of weekends ago the designer spent the weekend out in a tent
and in the list of items he has prepared,
was a hat with ear warmers (LUMBER CAP)
and fleece lined gloves (GLOBE/BROWN).

For those that have not yet, do get as soon as you can.
