Title: All Things WTAPS./192nd entry「A medium that feels good」

Once the exhibition is done, next is working on catalog production.
WTAPS has been creating catalogs since the 2007 AW, and this year will be the 14th issue. Compared to when we started, the page count and also shape has changed quite a bit.

I feel when the usual members gather around again, that tools like this which are released directly from the brand may be something that is created through a repeat of trial and error.
Creating a catalog striving for a medium that feels good.
The layout, how to show the items, number of pages, and the feel of the paper.
I feel a catalog is something that reflects the effort put in by all of those involved in the whole process.

Title: All Things WTAPS./191st entry「I like it, together for a long time」

When you find something you like, among the items in your daily life, or what you wear, your relationship with the item gets determined.
Something you bring out depending on the occasion, something you use fully without taking special care of, or maybe something that was chosen out of many for what it is. Something too precious to use, something that needs to be used to be fully appreciated, something that should be used without washing, something to wash and enjoy the changes, etc. From the same emotional feeling of liking, there is an ambivalence to it the more you think about it.
Long lasting = maintaining the original condition; this is not true. Depending on frequency of use there is going to be a variance in how long it lasts, but I hope that it has the ruggedness to grow old along with me.

Title: All Things WTAPS./190th entry「Changes」

Since we have started Instagram, taking photos, and the opportunities to take photos have dramatically increased.

Sometimes I reflect back and analyze the differences between those of now, there is some fun in it that only I can understand since I am the one who took the shots an understand the various subtleties of them.

At the same time I have a lot of photos which I take for more of an archival purpose; looking back at these I seem to notice more of the obvious differences like reminiscent scenes and change in hair styles.

When I was caught up wholeheartedly on how to take better photos, there was a photographer that looked at a portrait I shot and said laughing, "This is an interesting photo where you can't tell if they have their heart opened (to you)." Since then, when I check my photos, those important words start to cross my mind a bit.

Title: All Things WTAPS./189th entry「Timeline」

Now, is a time where social networks are the norm, and things like information and sharing can come into your life at an incredibly fast rate.

Reticence does not triumph, focusing too much on the current of the times does not fit well either; I feel keeping it at our own pace will convey the best.
In magazines and on websites, brand features are such a thing in the current of the times where the pages seem like time has stopped a bit.
I am always thinking how it is great when there is a synergy effect created from the media and the brand's visuals and feelings in a different way from news or entertainment value.

Title: All Things WTAPS./188th entry「A space that speaks to you」

The store is an important factor which portrays the brand's image and world view, while connecting the designer to the items.
Press and production, sales and merchandise management are divisions that are definitely a must for a brand; it is without need to mention how each division's work supports the brand, but they are in a place where you cannot normally see, and also they are places that do not need to be visible.
Maybe from a magazine or from the catalog, when interest in the items come from some form of media, if you go to the shop the staff will attend you, and this is where I feel you can finally learn to understand the characteristics of the brand called WTAPS; I truly hope this is such a store.
